The Kills – Manchester Methodist Hall

S.C.U.M definitely have the ethereal thing going on. The lead singer wafts his arms around with his new romantic style shirt and the bass player wouldn’t look amiss amongst The Horrors. The London based band do seem to have a few fans here – several tiny girls twist their hips in a way that could only mean they know all the words.

Surely Alison Mosshart must know that she has made it – as soon as other women start screaming “I LOVE YOU” at you you’ve definitely hit your stride.

The Kills definitely suit this small of a venue. Packed out, humid and theatrical – the perfect place. The pair screams onto the stage, Alison flailing round like the possessed, but in a very, very good way. Whereas Jamie stands steadfast, supplying the awesome attitude that is The Kills sound.

Obviously, everything from Midnight Boom gets a brilliant reception. Sour Cherry and URA Fever being the stand out points, but the new material sounds like they could be classics too after a few listens. Alison’s voice is truly awesome, a perfect match to the record and seems to spill out of her mouth almost effortlessly; to a point where every other performer should take note.

The Kills show is hypnotising. Buy tickets.
