A local band has made the North West proud by signing a record deal.

Candidate23 were signed to 09 Management this year after winning many local talent competitions.

They have now become so popular that they are starting to attract the attention of some big promoters.

The band is made up of Will Hayes( vocals), Alex McIntyre (lead guitar), Jono Tringham (drums), Sam Bramhall (bass) and Andy Perrin (rhythm guitar.)

The 5 piece are currently preparing for the release of their first single ‘One For You’. Considering their eldest member is only 19, it’s a very impressive start.

The single will be released on the 24th November and launched at a press release party in Liverpool on the same day. Support has been confirmed as fellow Liverpudlian act, Peach.

Candidate23 have been described as a cross between Oasis and The Stereophonics. They also play Jet and Kasabian covers at their gigs.

The band themselves cite Joy Division as one of their inspirations, so much so that the band name is a reference to both Joy Division’s track ‘Candidate’ and the catalogue number of the classic ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’  (FAC23.)

Their dream is to one day headline their local arena, the Liverpool Echo.

Lead singer, 19 year old Will Hayes, says; “Being part of CANDIDATE23 is a really exciting time for us all and one day I hope that all of our hard work and commitment will lead to us playing the likes of Glastonbury, V and T in the Park.”

A limited number of launch night tickets will be available for fans. For details visit www.candidate23.com or www.facebook.com/candidate23.
